Chapter Computer Updates and Phi Tau on the Web
The chapter room computer has been updated to Windows 7 Ultimate (RC edition) by brother, Mike Druschel. By default, the computer will go to a screen saver and then a blacked -out screen when not in use. Upon wakeup, you will be prompted for the computer password. The password is the same as on previous editions of chapter computer setups (ask an older brother, Mike Druschel, or Tim Sutcliffe if you don't know the password). The operating system is fast enough for the old computer and will be fully active until approximately March, 2010 (by which point Case Western's software center should be offering the OS for free).
Frank Rudy, ΦKT Hall of Fame Brother
Initiated on Valentine's Day of 1948, Marion "Frank" Rudy is one of three Hall of Fame brothers from the Alpha Delta chapter. After tenured service as a NASA aerospace engineer, Rudy patented a new shock-absorbing system of gas-filled plastic membranes and joined with Nike to develop the Air-sole unit in 1977.
Starting in 1979 with the Nike Tailwind, the Air-sole hit the athletic shoe market. Even though the initial launch was filled with many frustrations for Rudy, he never gave up on Nike. He made an argument to keep Air at the forefront of Nike's plans, and in 1985 it resulted in huge success with the development of Visible Air technology. The Fairview High School graduate's discovery and work is remembered even to this day. In the words of Nike founder Phil Knight, "We can thank Frank Rudy and his Air innovation for catapulting Nike to the forefront of innovation in the athletic footwear industry," and he is yet another reason this chapter can be very proud to be.
