Phi Tau Defeats Delta Upsilon in IM Volleyball

The brothers of Phi Kappa Tau defeated Delta Upsilon 2 - 0 in intramural volleyball on Monday, November 14th

Today: intramural volleyball, tomorrow: the world. The brothers of Phi Kappa Tau played impressively in their defeat of Delta Upsilon on Monday night by a score of two games to zero. (A game is first to 30, rally-style scoring.) While the DUs put up an impressive fight, it was no match for the skills of the Phi Tau team.

Starting with the service aspect, Phi Tau was on top of its game. There were also many great 'bump, set, spike' combinations as well as good rally play by the brothers. Digs were a many, and the spirit was high as a ten-man rotation kept everoyne fresh in the muggy Veale Center gym. Most impressive was the communication and how throughout every point, all six people on the court knew what the other ones were doing.

Another impressive aspect was the mixture of ages on the court, starting with the new guys and working up to the senior citizens within Phi Tau. It was great to see old and new come together for a fun-filled evening.

Starring the victory: Michael Druschel - consistent net play and giving support to his teammates

Alex Hunt - consistent all-around play despite getting hit in the face with a volleyball

Mike Rienzo - services were great

Matty Riffe - consistent play in the middle of the court and guiding the team on the court

Edgar Wilson - many points were won off of his serve

Mick - consistent sets at the net

Alan - sucked

Cro - showed up for an AARP meeting but decided to play volleyball instead

Shardule - clearly had no clue what he was doing

Adam Goodrich - thought he was playing soccer

Everyone is invited to come out next time for more volleyball fun!
