Phi Tau Tops Fraternity GPA List
The Phi Kappa Tau brothers achieved the highest GPA overall and among the new member classes for all of the fraternities here at Case.
The brothers of Phi Kappa Tau achieved the highest overall GPA and the highest new member GPA amongst all fraternities for Fall 2005. With an overall GPA of 3.42 and a new member GPA of 3.50, the brothers are on top of the charts again after last being there during the 2002-2003 school year. The brothers are all especially proud of the performance of the 13-(new)member Xi class. To be able to perform so well and adjust to fraternity life at the same time is truly a remarkable feat. The previously active brothers finished 4th in the "Actives" category with a GPA of 3.39. There are multiple reasons why the brothers were able to perform as well as they did. First, the brothers of Phi Tau stress individual accountability for academics, because despite the numerous resources that may be available, the desire to learn and do well in school has to start from within.
That being said, the brothers are always there to support each other in terms of academic (and non-academic, of course) difficulties. Most of the time, a younger member can find an older member who has previously taken a certain class. In addition, there are courses with multiple Phi Taus, making it easier to find someone to ask for help or study with. As scholarship chair, Neil Williamson looks to continue upon the academic successes of last semester by implementing a revised academic accountability system. This is in addition to cleaning up the scholarship suite in order to provide an environment more conducive to quiet study.
Congratulations to everyone for their hard work during Fall 2005 and best of luck for similar successes for Spring 2006.
