Phi Tau Dominates IM Running
On a cool Friday evening on September 28 the brothers of Phi Tau particiapted in the annual IM Outdoor Track & Field meet. Phi Tau finished first among five fraternity teams with 93 points beating the second place team by 37 points. The top finishers were as follows: Jeff McManus finished first in the 800m (2:06) and first in the 5-lap steeplechase (7:14); Mike Druschel finished first in the 200m (26.66) and second in the long jump (18'0"); Chris Schlechter finished second in the 200m (27.81); Adam Goodrich finished first in the 1500m (4:42); Drew Nassal finished first in the javelin (114'2") and third in the discuss (83'7"); Matt Collins finished second in the javelin (89'2"); and Mike Kowalski finished third in the shot put (36'8"). The 400m relay team consisting of Mike Kowalski, Mike Druschel, Alex Greenwald, and Todd Jacobs finished third (51.36), and the 1600m relay team consisting of Drew Nassal, Mike Druschel, Todd Jacobs, and Jeff McManus finished first (4:05).
The cross country meet took place on Monday, October 8, on a hot and humid day but the brothers were unphased but the less than ideal conditions. With the top four runners getting points, Phi Tau finished with 14 points, 21 points ahead of the second place team. Jeff McManus finished first (15:20), Adam Goodrich finished second (15:53), Chris Schlechter finished fifth (17:25), and Mike Druschel finished sixth (17:35).
