Memorial for our Faculty Advisor and Beloved Professor Doc Oc
On Saturday, April 25, 2009, a dedication ceremony was held outside of Adelbert Hall at CWRU in honor of Dr. Ignacio Ocasio. Doc Oc as he was commonly known was a beloved chemistry professor and served as our faculty advisor for many years before he suddenly died of a heart attack in May 2005. A student-led effort brought about the creation of a statue of Doc Oc to serve as a lasting memory on campus of such a great teacher, mentor, and friend.
A video of the ceremony can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9SjNCbxt08, which includes a acappella performances by brothers of "Lullabye" by Billy Joel and "Lamento Borincano" by Rafael Hernández Marin, two of Doc Oc's favorite songs.
